Texan Receives Highest Honor for Steel Design

American Institute of Steel selects Houstonite to receive its J. Lloyd Kimbrough award.

Lawrence “Larry” G. Griffis, president of the Structures Division and senior principal with Walter P. Moore in Houston, has been presented with the American Institute of Steel Construction’s highest individual honor. The J. Lloyd Kimbrough Award honors engineers and architects who are universally recognized as the pre-eminent steel designers of their era. The award is given only when a deserving individual is selected.

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. announced that Graham Moore has been appointed to lead its San Marcos office. In this role, Moore will pursue municipal infrastructure projects in Central Texas and oversee the day-to-day operations of the San Marcos office. Moore has earned bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and physics from Southern Methodist University. In San Antonio, LAN announced the appointment of David B. Hawkins as team leader of its Infrastructure Group.

He will be responsible for planning and managing civil infrastructure projects. Hawkins has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in civil engineering (sanitary) from the University of Arkansas.

The Houston office of LAN appointed Daniel B. McCausland as the firm’s director of program management services. McCausland holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in theology from Biola University, California. Also in Houston, LAN announced that Robert J. Card joined the firm as its chief pipe engineer. Card will oversee all pipe design tasks. He also will be responsible for project and standard pipe specifi cations and assist with project design reviews. Card has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The University of Connecticut.

Wier & Associates Inc. of Arlington announced that Brandon J. Long was selected as Young Engineer of the Year for the DFW Mid-Cities Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. Long graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Corgan Associates Inc. of Dallas has named Eric Horstman as principal. Horstman’s new responsibilities will include additional client interface and new business pursuits. He graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence with a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

McShane Development Co. has added Thomas J. D’Alesandro IV as its group president. D’Alesandro will provide management to the firm’s regional offices in Austin. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Loyola College in Baltimore. He also received a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

SpawGlass of San Antonio announced the promotions of regional and business division managers. Amer Al-Nahhas was promoted to president of SpawGlass Civil Construction; Robert Blalock was promoted to senior vice president; Chuck Calvin was promoted to president/San Antonio regional manager; Rene Capistran was promoted to vice president/ South Texas regional manager; Michael Emmons was promoted to president/Houston regional manager; and Pat Williams was promoted to president/Austin regional manager.

Skanska USA Building Inc. announced the recent LEED accreditation of four employees: Matt Daniel, vice president of business development in Houston; Adrienne Wojtasz, project engineer in Harlingen; Joe Klich, assistant superintendent Houston and Rudi Ediam, project engineer in San Antonio. Skanska also announced the promotion of Ronnie Howe to senior vice president of operations and account manager. Howe’s responsibilities include oversight of the Houston office as well as managing several health-care and education projects in the Houston area.

He attended Texas A&M University in Kingsville. Skanska also announced the promotion of Scott Cannon to senior vice president and account manager. Cannon’s responsibilities include managing health-care, government and education projects for the San Antonio office. He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. The firm also announced the addition of Mary Massey, vice president of operations, to its dual track program.

Massey’s responsibilities include oversight of the Harlingen office as well as managing health-care and education projects.

Jaster-Quintanilla of Dallas announced two recent new hires in its Dallas office with the appointment of Amanda Wheeler as business development director and Elizabeth “Liz” Harvey as business development coordinator. Wheeler is a graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Harvey graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in communications/ public relations.

FKP Architects in Houston announced the election of Edward E. Huckaby and Diane R. K. Osan to the firm’s Board of Directors. Huckaby holds a master’s degree in architecture and bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University. Osan has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Virginia Tech.

Cleary Zimmermann Engineers in San Antonio added Melodye Taylor as director of business development and marketing.

Turner Construction Co. has promoted Brandon Gaeke to manager of the Special Projects Division in the firm’s Houston office. Gaeke has a bachelor’s degree in construction science from Texas A&M University.

HKS Inc. in Dallas promoted Brian McFarlane to director of healthcare development for North America. McFarlane is involved in marketing, management and overall project direction for more than $1 billion in construction work annually.

TBG Partners has promoted Mark Meyer to managing principal at the firm’s Dallas/ Fort Worth office. Meyer will oversee design and planning for numerous Dallas and Fort Worth area projects. He holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University.

Parsons Brinckerhoff in Houston has named Roger K. Rodiek business development manager for its Energy Storage Services. Rodiek earned a master’s degree in regional planning from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the State University of New York at Albany.

McKinstry announced that Michael R. Flores has been selected to direct their Energy and Facility Services operations in the Southwestern United States and will lead the establishment of the region’s primary headquarters in Dallas.

KDC in Dallas, announced that 10 employees have earned their LEED accredited professional credentials. They include Rick Heymann, Melanie June, Terri McCuen, Sean McDonnell, Don Mills, Kurt Petersen, Mike Rosamond, Philip Sharp, James Williams and Jim Wrightsman.

KBR in Houston announced William C. Bodie has been appointed interim president of KBR Government and Infrastructure. Bodie has a master’s degree in politics from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Columbia University.

Fluor Corp. in Irving announced that Dave Dunning was appointed as its new group president of Power, with responsibility for the firm’s activities in the global fossil-fueled, plant betterment, nuclear generation and renewables industries. He has a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania and has completed executive education training programs at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
