Lubbock’s Loop 289 Project Widened from Four to Six Lanes

Text size: A A
Earlier this fall, the Texas Dept. of Transportation began work on the Northwest Passage mobility project, which will widen Loop 289 from four to six lanes, from Frankford Avenue to just west of Quaker Avenue.

In addition to widening the loop, several improvements will be made to enhance traffic flow. The project will tie in to the city of Lubbock’s project to extend Slide Road north to the Loop.

C & C Road Construction of El Paso was awarded the $28-million contract for the project, which has a targeted completion date for late 2010.
