KBDJ, a limestone quarry in Hays County, won two awards from the Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association: the industry group’s prestigious “Bob Beard Good Neighbor Award” and the “Public Appearance Award” for its Nehemiah Pit operation in Buda.
The “Bob Beard Good Neighbor Award” was created in 1999 to encourage the members of TACA to improve the perception of the industry through image. The company implemented children’s educational programs, the establishment of wildlife habits on the property and kept its neighbors informed by posting the quarry’s blasting schedule on its Web site.
TACA’s “Public Appearance Award” is given to members whose contributions improve the industry’s public image or provide educational opportunities for the community, in addition to surpassing governmental compliance regulations and demonstrating a commitment to plant appearance, landscaping and community relations.
