NTTA Opens Seven-Mile Segment of Sam Rayburn Tollway

Text size: A A

This fall, the Texas Dept. of Transportation transferred a portion of State Highway 121 from Hillcrest Road to Watters Road in Collin County to the North Texas Tollway Authority. SH 121 mainlanes became part of the NTTA system and are now an extension of the recently renamed Sam Rayburn Tollway. The service roads will retain the SH 121 designation. A new 7-mi segment of the roadway recently opened.

The NTTA’s segment four, the SH 121/U.S. 75 interchange, is under construction and is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic by January 2011. Segment five, the addition of direct-connect bridges linking SH 121 with the Dallas North Tollway, is currently in the environmental-approval process and is scheduled to be open by January 2012.
