Text size: A A

Broomfield, Colo.-based MWH was selected as construction manager-at-risk for the Austin’s Water Treatment Plant No. 4. Final design on the new plant near Lake Travis is under way.

The firm was awarded $5.4 million for preconstruction activities. Plans for the northwest Austin plant on 92 acres include raw-water intake and tunnels; pump stations; pipelines and water-treatment facilities. The first phase of the plant will produce 50 million gallons of water a day when operational by 2014. The project is expected to cost $508 million and produce 300 million gallons of water a day.
