Despite what some have called the wettest winter in 20 years, the Livingston ISD High School project team has remained on track to meet an aggressive schedule. Crews have moved 400,000 yds of dirt in two months and will have poured 25,000 yds. of concrete by the time construction is complete. In one of its more productive days, the concrete subcontractor placed more than 980 yds in 12 hours.
The 300,000-sq-ft high school will serve 1,500 students and was designed with audio visual support aids in most of the classrooms, a state-of-the-art science facility and a culinary classroom that offers residential and commercial grade training tools. The classroom wing is two stories with 128,000-sq-ft of space. A 64,000-sq-ft competitive gym, designed to college-level standards, can hold more than 2,000 sports fans. A 20,000-sq-ft remote field house offers a complete workout room, locker rooms and training rooms. A second similarly sized remote facility will be used for “career tech” studies.
