The new Brockman Hall for Physics building on the Rice University campus serves as a state-of-the-art space for the teaching and research mission of the university’s physics and astronomy department. The facility will include vibration and noise controlled underground laboratories to support work in atomic, molecular and optical physics; biophysics; condensed matter physics; nano-engineering and photonics. In addition to the labs, the space will include lab support space, interaction spaces, meeting spaces, instructional spaces, and offices for faculty, students and staff.
The building will allow Rice to create a state-of-the-art facility that meets the exacting requirements of modern physics and to consolidate its research in fundamental and applied physics.
BIM is being used for MEP coordination, and the project is targeting LEED-Silver certification.
