The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration project at Texas Tech University includes a new, four-story, 150,000-sq-ft academic facility conforming with the traditional Spanish Renaissance architecture of the campus. The project includes 22 technology rich classrooms; comprehensive undergraduate and graduate level student services; grouped and individual study areas; faculty and staff office spaces; and conference and large meeting spaces.
Particular attention was given to site design to create multi-level, outdoor rooms and areas to foster student and faculty interaction. Sustainable design initiatives ranging from reducing stormwater runoff and heat island effect to reducing the use of potable water inside the building were incorporated. Although an existing building was demolished to make way for this project, much of these materials were diverted from the landfill and either donated, recycled or crushed and used as fill for the new building.
